About Us
A brief summary:
We started a Baptist Church in Loanhead, Scotland in July 2010. Loanhead is located on the South Side of Edinburgh.
Our beginning:
Katie and Benjamin met at Bob Jones where they attended school. They were married on June 17, 2000. Katie finished her degree in English Education in 2001. That same year Benjamin finished his Master's degree in Pastoral Studies.
Our ministry:
In 1999 Benjamin did a ten week internship at Bethel Baptist Church in Tucson, AZ with Pastor Ed Nelson.
While in school at Bob Jones they traveled to Return Baptist Church in Demorest, GA pastored by Walter Burrell. There they assisted in the children's ministry.
Following school they were a year and a half in ministry at Bible Baptist Church in Elmont, NY with Pastor James Barker. Katie taught the elementary students and Benjamin was the church youth pastor.
In the Fall of 2002 the Lord directed them to First Baptist Church in Goodells, MI pastored by Randy Clark. For the next three and a half years, Benjamin was an assistant pastor in that ministry.
Our call to missions:
God clearly called Benjamin to church planting while he was in grad school at Bob Jones. In 2005 they began praying about where to plant a church. They prayed specifically and asked the Lord about three cities; Tucson, Arizona, New York City, and Edinburgh, Scotland. While praying about this, the Lord used a biography of James Stewart, a Scottish missionary evangelist, to call them to Scotland.
Our family:
The Lord has given them 6 children. Kay Lee, their oldest, was born on September 3, 2002. Benson came a couple of years later on June 20, 2004. Logan came right before deputation on December 5th, 2005. Parker interrupted deputation with his arrival on July 18th, 2007, Nelson was born 4 weeks after arriving in Scotland on April 20, 2010. Mac was born in June, 2014.
